'Whealism'...Part two...The Painting

'Whealism'...Yesterday I explained the photomontage image created for the 'Whealism' exhibit in Gore Bay and someone reached out with the Ivan Wheale painting that was discussed!
Here's the explanation with the photomontage image along with Ivan's beautiful painting.
"Saturday, May 23 was the opening of 'A Little Bit of Whealism' in Gore Bay and it was a wonderful turnout of people celebrating Ivan Wheale.
Kerry and I first met Ivan and Jean in the 80s through the La Cloche Art Show and we became good friends over the last 25 years since retiring to Willisville and the La Cloche area.
We often went exploring the beautiful La Cloche landscape and my photomontage image in the exhibit is a memory of that.
Ivan, Kerry, our dog Andy and I were on Charlton Lake and Ivan captured an image of a vibrant red maple on the water's edge, surrounded by the white quartzite rock of La Cloche. He later painted a beautiful canvas of that image.
This is my photograph of that moment and memory as a photomontage."
'A Little Bit of Whealism', Small paintings by local artists:
A loving tribute to Manitoulin Island's art mentor Ivan Wheale.
It's open until July 17, 2026 at Studio 6, Gore Bay Harbour Centre, 40 Water St.
